Yohan Hennequin is a singer-songwriter and musician (drums). He is best known as one half of the duo Cats On Trees, a French pop-rock piano/drums duo who sing in English. With Nina Goern, he co-founded the group, which has released three albums on the Tôt ou Tard label.
Their career took off in 2013 with the single Sirens Call, which enjoyed massive airplay (#3 in France, #5 in Belgium) and met with great commercial success, selling over 250,000 copies. The first album included several hit singles, including Wichita, used in a national TV/digital campaign for McDonald’s. Their first two albums (2013, 2018) were both nominated for Victoires de la Musique awards, testifying to their critical acclaim.
In 2021, Cats On Trees released their third album, produced by Liam Howe (Adele, Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding) and mixed by Mark “Spike” Stent (Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Muse), two renowned British producers attracted by the duo’s writing style. Each album was supported by a two-year tour across France, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada, expanding their audience. Their music, often described as a perfect blend of organic and synthetic pop, has also been promoted in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Sweden, following in the footsteps of European pop artists such as The Cardigans, Milky Chance and Matt Simons.
In addition to radio and stage success, their music has been widely synchronized in advertising, TV series and film trailers in France, the USA and elsewhere. Notably, they composed an original piece for a Christmas campaign by Galeries Lafayette, one of France’s most iconic fashion brands. In 2015, Yohan also appeared as a coach on The Voice Belgium, adding a new dimension to his career.
Yohan has always been driven by collective creation, combining adventure, passion and resilience to bring meaningful projects to life. He is currently developing an ambitious multidisciplinary project: a book he is writing and illustrating himself, accompanied by a soundtrack and stage adaptation. At the same time, he continues to broaden his skills through professional training in visual music, with the aim of deepening his work in audiovisual composition and storytelling.
