A rare and subtle musician, Patrick Goraguer is a drummer, pianist, composer and arranger. Born in Paris into a family steeped in music, he is the son of composer and arranger Alain Goraguer, a legendary figure in French chanson and collaborator of Boris Vian, Serge Gainsbourg and Jean Ferrat. In this demanding and inventive wake, Patrick developed a keen ear and insatiable curiosity from an early age.
Trained at Boston’ s Berklee College of Music, he has been building a richly versatile career for over thirty years, spanning jazz, chanson, world music and composition for the visual arts. A drummer with a sensitive touch and an elegant groove, and a pianist with a nuanced harmony, he is equally at ease with syncopated jazz rhythms and more atmospheric textures.
Thanks to his versatility, he has been called upon by an impressive range of artists: Maxime Le Forestier, Alain Chamfort, Arthur H, Juliette Gréco, Françoise Hardy, as well as international icons such as Salif Keita, Femi Kuti, Tony Allen, Rachid Taha, Keziah Jones, and jazz legends such as Lee Konitz, Jean-Luc Ponty and Richard Bona.
A composer for cinema and television, he also composes music for films and documentaries, extending his sense of musical narrative and visual ambience.
In 2025, it joins the Trans Cover Expressproject, imagined by Nicolas Repacalongside Mirabelle Gilis (violin), Olivier Koundouno (cello) and Ludovic Joyeux (sound textures). Together, they reinvent a repertoire spanning the centuries – from Mozart to Nirvana, from Vivaldi to Amadou & Mariam – in a vibrant, unclassifiable fresco of sound, blending classical instruments, electric guitar, percussion and electronic sounds. Drums and keyboards play a central role, between rhythmic roots and harmonic flights.
Now living in Paris, Patrick Goraguer is pursuing an elegant career path, nourished by a strong heritage, an assertive musical freedom and a constant love of the collective.
