Imagine the Neapolitans landing in Marseille, not with “O Sole Mio”, but a fiery freestyle set to mandolin and bandoneon.

This is the spirit ofOpération Sultan, a project by Roberta Roman to mark the 80th anniversary of the raid on the Old Port and the destruction of the Saint-Jean district, aka “Little Naples”.

A cocktail of Neapolitan songs, rap and world music.

A clash of cultures as surprising as it is delicious, as if Enrico Caruso and IAM were sharing the same stage.

But behind the festivities lies a duty to remember: to honor the victims of Operation Sultan in 1943, and to defend a universal message against discrimination and in favor of human rights.
